An overview of this role
As a
Senior Product Manager
, you will define and evolve GitLab's AI Platform Management capabilities across the platform, with a focus on the
AI Control Plane
that governs how agents, Model Context Protocol servers, tools, and skills are used, and when human approval is required.
You will have broad scope across product strategy, execution, and stakeholder alignment for AI Platform Management. In your first year, you will shape the direction of governance, orchestration, and audit capabilities, help teams make practical decisions in an ambiguous space, and build trust with engineering, design, and partner teams by bringing well-reasoned options forward.

Defining control plane experiences for agents, tools, skills, policy enforcement, and human-in-the-loop approvals across evolving AI workflows
What you’ll do
Lead
product discovery and delivery for AI Control Plane capabilities that help administrators manage AI usage within GitLab.
Define
product direction for configuration and governance experiences related to agents, Model Context Protocol servers, tools, skills, and approval flows.
Collaborate
closely with engineering, design, and partner teams across AI Governance and related product groups to turn ambiguous problems into clear plans.
Drive
alignment across stakeholders by presenting trade-offs, alternatives, and product recommendations grounded in customer and business impact.
Own
prioritization decisions for a platform area that supports multiple teams and products, including emerging work connected to autonomous AI experiences.
Partner
with engineering managers and technical leaders across regions to deliver platform capabilities in an asynchronous, distributed environment.
Navigate
cross-functional challenges with persistence, using escalation thoughtfully and only after working through options with peers.
Communicate
strategy, decisions, and progress clearly so teams can move forward with shared context and accountability.
What you’ll bring
Experience
building product for AI platforms, AI configuration, governance, or other platform capabilities rather than only consuming third-party AI tools.
Ability
to work through ambiguous, evolving technical spaces and translate them into clear product direction and execution plans.
Skill
in cross-functional collaboration with engineering, design, and partner teams, including handling disagreement and driving decisions through influence.
Judgment
to bring structured alternatives, trade-offs, and recommendations to leaders instead of escalating problems without context.
Ownership
mindset with a strong sense of accountability, urgency, and follow-through in a role that requires persistence.
Comfort
operating in a large, matrixed organization where progress depends on coordination across multiple stakeholders and teams.
Communication
skills that support clear written and verbal collaboration in a distributed, asynchronous environment.
Openness
to candidates with transferable product experience from adjacent platform or infrastructure domains, especially where AI, governance, or administrative control are central to the work.
About the team
This team sits within GitLab's Security product management organization and is focused on platform capabilities that help teams use AI with control, clarity, and accountability. The team works closely with engineering, design, and peer product groups across regions, including partners in AI Governance and adjacent areas shaping GitLab's approach to agentic workflows. You will collaborate asynchronously with teammates and counterparts in EMEA, India, and Australia while helping define product direction in an area where the technology and operating model are still taking shape. The team is working through novel questions around AI administration, configuration, and approval models as GitLab expands support for agents and related capabilities.
